Federal immigration officials queried Bend, Oregon's Flock data within weeks of install

Bend, OR

Federal immigration officials made hundreds of queries into Bend, Oregon's Flock Safety data in its first weeks of operation, with audits revealing 'front door,' 'back door,' and 'side door' federal access to local camera data.

In Bend, Oregon, U.S. Customs and Border Protection made well over 100 queries during a roughly three-week window in June 2025, alongside scores of additional searches by out-of-state agencies acting on behalf of ICE, CBP, and HSI.

Audits of Flock systems documented multiple forms of federal access to data on residents: “front door” access via direct sharing; “back door” access where searches appeared despite sharing not being explicitly enabled; and “side door” access, where local users ran searches on behalf of federal immigration agencies.
