Editorial & sourcing policy
Our credibility is the whole point. This page explains how we research, cite, date, and correct everything on the site.
Who publishes this
BanFlockCameras.com is an independent public-information project advocating for lawful limits on mass automated license plate reader (ALPR) surveillance. We are not affiliated with Flock Safety, Inc., DeFlock, or any organization we link to.
Sourcing standards
- Every factual claim links to a primary source — news reporting, court filings, public records, civil-liberties organizations, or official statements.
- We summarize sources and link to the original so you can verify it yourself.
- We do not invent statistics, dates, or laws. Where something is unknown or contested, we say so.
- Where the law is unsettled — such as ongoing Fourth Amendment litigation — we present it honestly, including rulings that go against our position.
Dates and updates
Evergreen pages and tracker entries show a "last updated" date. In the bans tracker, dates reflect when an action was reported or taken to the best of our knowledge ("as reported"). The tracker is a representative sample of a larger trend, not an exhaustive registry.
Corrections & submissions
Found an error, or know of a community we should add to the tracker? We want this record accurate. Corrections and tips are welcome through the contact channel listed for this domain, and verified corrections are applied promptly.
Advocacy stance
We advocate change through lawful civic action only — canceling contracts, passing ordinances, engaging officials, and informing the public. We do not endorse tampering with, damaging, or evading cameras.
